The ECB Simulation Conference is based on the competencies of the ECB Governing and General Council. More specifically, the participants, during the procedures of the Conference, simulate the workings of the General Council and discuss the topics of the ECB’s Governing Council. For a better conference experience, the participants are grouped into two committees: the Economic Affairs Committee and the Statutory Revision Committee. These committees operate simultaneously and have the same topics -as they share the same Agenda. Their only difference is their composition, which is due to the participants’ scientific backgrounds. The Organizing Team of the Conference staffs the two committees to guarantee that the examined topics are approached interdisciplinarily and qualitatively.
Each committee is comprised of all 27 nation members of the European Union. Each country is represented by Double Delegation, meaning that it is represented by two participants. The participants take on the role of Central Bankers on an equal footing and the objective of the Organizing Team is for each country to be represented by delegates with different scientific backgrounds. The two co-representatives of each country jointly formulate the nation’s positions and proposals, thus developing their soft skills.
For the Committee’s procedures, the Organizing Team is represented by the Procedure Heads and the Executive Board. In summary, the Procedure Heads are responsible for the adherence -by the participants- to the Rules of Procedures, while the Executive Board has to ensure the scientific accuracy of the discussions and debates that take place in each committee.
